What You See in a Student View

Everything you need to verify a student, check their day, and take action - all in one place.

When you tap into a student's view in MOOV — whether from the Find a student search at the top of the staff portal, clicking "View History" from a class roster, or from a Handheld Spot Check, or by tapping their photo on any screen — you land on their profile. Every staff member can use it. Admins see a couple of extra options, which we'll call out as we go.

The student header

At the top, you'll see everything you need to confirm identity and orient yourself instantly:

  • The student's photo and name

  • Last tap: Where they last tapped in (e.g., "Last tap: 100 on Thu 05/28 at 8:44 AM"), so you can tell at a glance where they came from

  • Student ID and Card ID

The action buttons

Right under the header are the things you can do from here.

  • Create Pass (everyone) — Write a pass for this student without leaving the screen. Pick the Origin, search locations (Room 1, Cafe, Room 100, etc.), or use Create a Late Pass instead if they need an excused tardy for their next class.

  • Admin Settings (everyone) — Despite the name, every staff member can open this. Inside, you can create a kiosk alert: a short message (e.g., "Report to main office") that pops up and turns the kiosk amber the next time the student taps in. It's the quickest way to flag a student who needs redirection. (RED CIRCLE: Admin scopes and higher can set individual pass limits and "Buddy Block" on this screen.)

  • Login (Admin only) — Logs in as the student so you can see exactly what their student view looks like - handy when you're curious about what your tap store looks like from a student view, quickly see someone's coin count, and more.

MOOV Hack: Use the kiosk alert under Admin Settings instead of trying to track down a student by hand. The next time they tap into the building or a room, the kiosk turns amber, shows your message, and the student knows exactly where to go, no announcement needed.

The stats snapshot

Below the buttons, you get a quick visual of how this student is doing right now compared to the prior school week. You'll see side-by-side bar charts for:

  • Bathroom — total bathroom visits

  • Passes — total hall passes

  • Tardy — number of tardies

  • Out (minutes) — total time spent out of class on passes

  • Cardless — number of cardless entries

Each bar shows the prior and current periods side by side, with a small +/− trend so you can see at a glance whether things are improving or worsening. Click View all metrics for the full breakdown.

Tap History

Below the stats is the student's full Tap History - every tap they've made, organized by day. Use the calendar control to Select date and jump to any specific day. It's your record of where they've been and when, and it pairs perfectly with the spot check (you can confirm not just "they're standing here" but also "and here's where they came from").

Schedule

Scroll down for the student's Schedule, their classes by period, the teacher, and the room (e.g., 1(A-B) ENL PRE-ALGEBRA 1 · Hamilton, Gladys · Room 100). This is the half of the spot check that tells you where the student should be right now.

Setting pass limits and Buddy Block (Admin only)

Admins can also set pass limits for a student directly from their profile - a great way to stop a student who's spending too much time out of class without writing them up. Once set, MOOV will automatically enforce the limit; they won't be able to get more passes after they've hit the cap.

Click "Admin Settings", and select "Block Meetups with" or "Individual Pass Limit" to customize.

MOOV Hack: If Bart and Lisa Simpson always cause trouble together, throw them in a Buddy Block group (also accessible on the dashboard) to ensure they're never in the hallways together! If Bart is out of class, and Lisa tries to tap, the MOOV Reader will go red until he's back where he's supposed to be.
