What Is a MOOV Handheld?
The MOOV handheld is a mobile ID reader that enables staff to quickly verify students' identities and authorization in real time.
Each tap instantly records real-time attendance and movement data, helping schools track student movement accurately and efficiently throughout the day.
How to Use a Handheld
From the home screen, you can:
Monitor the school remotely
Scan student IDs
Assign temporary IDs
View and write hall passes
Search for any student using the student search bar
If a Student Forgot Their ID
Tap Manual Add
Enter the student’s name or ID number
Follow the on-screen prompts
Where Can I Use a Handheld?
MOOV handhelds are typically used by security guards and administrators to spot-check students and confirm their scheduled class, but they can be used anywhere, including:

Handheld Setup & Troubleshooting
Important Reminders
Plug in your handheld every night (charges like a phone)
If the handheld will not power on, the battery may be fully depleted
A WiFi connection is required for the first-time setup
WiFi / Connection Issues
If student photos are not loading, the handheld may not be connected to WiFi.
How to Reconnect to WiFi
Swipe up about 1 inch from the bottom-left corner of the screen.
Contact MOOV Support for the 4-digit unlock code.
Once unlocked, open device settings and reconnect to WiFi.
Make sure to reconnect to our device management by tapping the blue-and-yellow dart icon on the home screen to relaunch the MDM and return to handheld mode.
Date & Time Issues (Period Timer Incorrect)
If the class period timer appears incorrect:
Exit our device management (using the steps above)
Open Device Settings
Go to General Management → Date & Time
Turn on "Set time zone based on location."
Make sure to reconnect to our device management by tapping the blue-and-yellow dart icon on the home screen to relaunch the MDM and return to handheld mode.
Resetting the Device
Press and hold the side power button + volume button
Select "Restart"
When the device powers back on, it will be ready for use
How to Assign a Permanent or Temporary ID

Tap "Reader Mode"
Tap a student ID on the back of the handheld
Fill in the student's name or ID number
Select the student, and choose "temporary" or "permanent."
