What Is a MOOV Kiosk?

The MOOV kiosk is a mobile ID reader with a built-in screen that allows staff to quickly verify student identity and authorization in real time.

As students enter or exit spaces, including the building entrance, they tap their ID card. The kiosk instantly displays the student’s photo, name, and status, showing green if the student is authorized to be in that space and red if they are not.

For example:

  • A suspended student tapping at entry → Red

  • A student attempting to enter the cafeteria during math class → Red

  • A student entering the library during their study hall → Green

Each tap instantly records real-time attendance and movement data, providing accurate tracking throughout the school day. MOOV kiosks are fully mobile, equipped with wheels and a long-lasting battery that operates all day and only needs to be charged overnight.

How to Use a Kiosk

  • Physically move the kiosk to the desired location.

  • Tap the upper-right corner of the screen to change the kiosk’s location.

  • Common locations such as Entry, Cafeteria, and Gym are preloaded for you to select.

  • Once the location is set, students can begin tapping immediately.

If a Student Forgot Their ID

  • Tap Add +

  • Manually enter the student’s name or ID number

Setting Kiosk Alerts

  • You can create custom alerts (such as “Report to Main Office” or “Go to Nurse for immunization records”) that appear in a different color when a student taps in, directing them to the appropriate destination.

Where Can I Use a Kiosk?

  • MOOV kiosks are flexible and can be placed anywhere student verification is needed, including:

  • Building Entry

  • Cafeteria

  • Auditorium

  • Gym

  • Bathrooms

  • Events

Each kiosk can process up to 60 students per minute, enabling fast, efficient entry even during peak periods.

Kiosk Troubleshooting

Not Charging

  • If your kiosk is not charging:

    • Press and hold the silver button on the battery (located at the top front panel).

    • Release, then press and hold again to restart the battery.

Important reminders:

  • Plug in the kiosk every night.

  • If the kiosk will not power on, the battery may be fully depleted.

  • If plugged in but not showing 100% or actively charging, the battery may be optimizing, this is normal and there’s no need to worry.

WiFi/Connection Issues

  • If you see a spinning wheel or student photos are not loading, the kiosk may not be connected to WiFi.

  • Swipe up about 1 inch from the bottom-left corner of the screen.

  • Contact MOOV support for the 4-digit unlock code.

  • Once unlocked, access device settings and reconnect to WiFi.

Student Not Appearing on the Kiosk

  • Only one ID can be active per student at a time.

  • If a student shows as Unknown, they may be using an old or inactive card.

  • Refer to the ID troubleshooting article here for help.

  • If a student just received a new ID, allow 60 seconds for activation.

Resetting the Device

  • Press and hold the side power button.

  • Select "Reset" on the screen.

  • Once restarted, the kiosk will be ready for use.

Verify Room Location

  • After morning entry, ensure the kiosk location is changed from Entry to avoid inaccurate tracking (for example, the cafeteria incorrectly recording entry data, thereby rewriting attendance).

Screen Turning Off

  • If the tablet exits kiosk mode, it is no longer managed by our device management system, which keeps it locked to MOOV.

  • Tap the blue-and-yellow dart icon on the home screen to relaunch the MDM and return to kiosk mode.
