Please make sure you have a Primacy 1. If you have a Primacy 2, navigate to this page.
Important: Do not connect the printer to the computer via USB until setup is complete. Make sure your printer's card thickness is set to 30. Read this document in full prior to installation.
Initial Setup
Download the Evolis printer drivers.
Download ID-ALL (badging software):
Unboxing the Printer
If the printer drivers are successfully installed, you can connect the printer to the computer using the USB cable.
Open ID-ALL and activate the software using the provided one-time activation code via email.
Your badge template will be sent via email. Save the template to your desktop for easy access. Contact us if you are missing your template or your activation code.
Perform a test print (print a student badge) to confirm the setup is working correctly. When you press print, make sure your print settings match the photo below.
Confirm that the printer status shows Online. If it is listed as Offline, you may have a duplicate printer entry (such as Evolis Primacy (Copy 1)). Select the alternate printer and try again.
Under Print Operations, ensure Contactless Encoding is selected and enabled.
In the Print Range section, verify that Selected records in table is selected. This ensures that only the selected student (e.g., Student A) is printed.
In Print Options, ensure that Full SDK is selected.
Troubleshooting: Blank Card Printing
If a blank card is exiting the back of the printer:
Navigate to the Encoding tab (pictured below).
Confirm that:
An option is selected under Encoder Selection (e.g., OMNIKEY 5122).
The Encoding Field contains text.
If the encoding field is blank, copy and paste the script from here.
Then, click the Refresh button next to the encoder name (e.g., OMNIKEY 5122) (pictured below; your encoder may be different than what's in the photo).
If Issues Persist
Restart the computer
Power the printer off and back on
Unplug and reconnect all cables
